Effective maintenance and cleaning of your external aluminium shutters prolongs their performance and reliability, so they remain a serviceable asset for longer. Not only that they'll look brand new again!
Environmental elements such as dust or grime, wildlife, trees, garden, ocean salt, even bbq residue can all be contributing factors for the need to clean. The most effective that we've found is to:
• Wipe over your shutters with a non-abrasive cloth to remove any loose particles that want to come away easily and/or a soft brush to remove any cobwebs.
Outside shutters benefit greatly from a wipe down with clean water:
• A garden hose is effective to dampen areas at a time or a bucket of clean water if no hose is available.
• Next is to use a non-abrasive cloth or sponge with a bucket of soapy water, to wipe over those dampened areas.
• Wipe down or rinse with clean water using hose or bucket to remove any smudges that may remain.
Allow your external shutters to air dry or if you'd rather, wipe them over with a drying cloth. If your shutters are hinged or are on a tracking system, after they're completely dried, a light spray of silicone lubricant to those moving parts is beneficial.
